The year that just ended was a big one for Protocol: We added comprehensive coverage of enterprise computing, fintech, China and the fast-changing workplace. We launched the Protocol Power Index and the Protocol Diversity Tracker. We nearly tripled the size of our editorial team.
And we’re just getting started.
In 2022, we’ll dramatically expand our editorial team again, and the addition of more journalists will allow us to provide broader and deeper coverage of the most important areas in tech.
Here’s a quick look at our plans for the year ahead.
- This week, we launch Protocol | Entertainment, a new vertical that will focus on the intersection of new technologies like AR and VR, gaming, streaming and Web3 — and how they’re all coming together to form the metaverse.
- Later this month, we’ll launch Protocol | Policy, a new, three-day-a-week newsletter building on the extraordinary tech policy coverage you’ve come to expect from Issie Lapowsky, Ben Brody and the rest of the Protocol policy team.
- Also this month, we’ll expand our Protocol | Enterprise and Protocol | Fintech newsletters, moving from twice a week to five days a week to provide you much more of the actionable news and information you need.
- And coming soon, we’ll launch Protocol | Climate, a new vertical and newsletter focused on the tech industry’s role in combating the climate crisis and the emerging technologies that could have a transformative effect on global emissions.
There’s much more to come as we move through 2022: more journalists, more live and virtual events, more special projects, more breaking news and deep analysis — all aimed at helping you navigate the ever-evolving world of tech. For a more detailed rundown of our 2022 plans, you can check out the press release we put out today. And if there are other areas you think we should be covering — or other ways in which we can make our coverage more useful for you — please reach out to editor@protocol.com. We’d love to hear from you.
Happy new year, thanks for reading, and thanks for being a part of the Protocol community.
