Dell to offload RSA security unit.
The computer giant announced Tuesday that it will sell RSA to a coalition led by Symphony Technology Group in a $2.075 billion all-cash transaction.
RSA, which is perhaps best known for its hardware security tokens and namesake conference, helps its more than 12,500 customers detect, investigate and respond to cybersecurity threats, according to the company. The sale is aimed at simplifying Dell's business and product portfolio, the company's Chief Operating Officer Jeff Clarke said in a blog post.
The sale is expected to close in the next six to nine months, the company said.
