Adam Selipsky, president and CEO of Tableau Software, has been named the next CEO of AWS, according to an internal email seen by Protocol.
Bloomberg and CNBC also reported that Selipsky, who was VP of sales for AWS during a crucial period of its growth, will become only the second CEO in the history of the cloud pioneer. Amazon announced earlier this year that Andy Jassy, current and founding CEO of the division, will become Amazon CEO later this year.
"Adam brings strong judgment, customer obsession, team building, demand generation, and CEO experience to an already very strong AWS leadership team. And, having been in such a senior role at AWS for 11 years, he knows our culture and business well," Jassy wrote in an email. AWS later confirmed the email.
