The company formerly known as Facebook is discussing opening a series of retail stores to sell its VR headsets and smart glasses, sources told The New York Times.
In-person stores aren't new for tech companies, Facebook included. The company opened a pop-up shop in the past to showcase its VR headset. Google opened a physical store over the summer in New York City, and Amazon — on top of its grab-and-go grocery concept and other brick-and-mortar ideas — is even thinking of taking on the department store business.
Meta tossed around a few different names for the store, according to The New York Times, all of which rely on Facebook branding. Some of the contenders included Facebook Hub, Facebook Commons and Facebook Reality Store. But the company may go for simplicity; Facebook Store is supposedly the company's top pick.
