A Facebook whistleblower will testify next week about child safety on Facebook, including the recent string of revelations published by The Wall Street Journal's Facebook Files series.
The as-yet-unnamed whistleblower will appear next Tuesday before the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety and Data Security, less than a week after Facebook's head of global safety Antigone Davis is set to testify on Facebook and Instagram's impact on teens' mental health.
"This whistleblower's testimony will be critical to understanding what Facebook knew about its platforms' toxic effects on young users, when they knew it and what they did about it," Sen. Richard Blumenthal said in a statement.
