Google Cloud sales in 2020 rose 46% to $13 billion, per Alphabet's earnings release on Tuesday, marking the first time the company has reported standalone revenue for the unit. Google as a whole brought in $168 billion for the fiscal year.
The results indicate that, despite the fierce battle with Microsoft and AWS for dominance in the cloud industry, Google remains far behind. Microsoft doesn't report Azure sales separately, but it's clearly much larger; Intelligence Cloud revenue alone was $15 billion last quarter. At AWS, revenue grew nearly 29% last year to $45 billion.
