A federal judge blocked the Commerce Department's ban on new TikTok downloads, which was set to go into effect on Sunday night.
Judge Carl Nichols of United States District Court for the District of Columbia granted an injunction against that order after TikTok's lawyers argued it was a violation of the First Amendment. But Nichols did not block the broader TikTok ban set to go into effect on Nov. 12, teeing up more legal battles over the future of the Chinese-owned app.
