The company plans to incorporate India-based Intellibot's automation capabilities into its own product suite to drive easier integration between applications.
The goal of robotic process automation is to make it possible for companies to automate common and repetitive tasks across the enterprise that rely on several different products. That can be difficult now given the thousands of applications in use by companies, the bulk of which run independently of each other.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ServiceNow is one of several software and cloud vendors trying to capitalize on the surge of interest in RPA. Google Cloud recently announced a partnership with Automation Anywhere and AWS has one with UiPath, among others.
The purchase is also part of a broader expansion strategy in India, one of ServiceNow's fastest-growing markets. The company will establish two new data centers in the country by early 2022 and plans to double the number of employees in India by 2024.
