The company says the acquisition will help it improve security for clients who are increasingly using APIs to integrate their applications on the back end.
"Security teams and operators need better visibility into application behavior and overall security posture, and the developer experience needs to lead to more secure operations," Tom Gillis, the general manager of the networking and security business unit, wrote in a blog post announcing the deal. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
VMware is still looking for a permanent CEO to replace Patrick Gelsinger, who left for Intel earlier this year.
