Alphabet's autonomous car company just raised its first external funding round.
The round is led by Silver Lake, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and Mubadala Investment Company, with additional funding from Magna International, Andreessen Horowitz and AutoNation. Alphabet also was part of the round. On a call about the funding, CEO John Krafcik said that this funding means there is a possibility that Waymo could eventually spin out of Alphabet.
