Yet another partnership in the world of the workplace: Workplace from Meta (formerly Facebook) will now integrate with Microsoft Teams, the company announced Wednesday. Teams and Workplace users will be able to check Workplace from their Teams navigation page and livestream Teams video calls into the Workplace app.
The goal is to enable more information flow between the two platforms. Workplace and Teams customers can check out the integration today, though the video call feature won't be available until early 2022.
Partnerships are becoming essential among enterprise vendors; everybody wants to integrate with everybody. Customers are the ones who benefit, gaining the ability to easily navigate between all their workplace tools. Meta is going after a piece of the enterprise market pie — particularly among front-line workers, a population often overlooked by IT vendors. But to make meaningful headway, Workplace must play nicely with Teams. After all, Microsoft is the dominant vendor in the workplace software space.
